Best Software for downloading Torrents

In this small article I will be discussing about 'Vuze' which is the best software to download torrents of all types including movies, music, ebooks, videos, magazines etc.

Vuze is the most power bittorrent application on earth because it has all the features we expect. It has 'Meta Search' which shows search results from all popular torrent websites. This saves our time because we don't have to visit all separate torrent websites and search multiple times in different sites. Thus with Meta search, vuze makes it easy by displaying results from all torrent sites at once and in the same page.

Faster download speed: It provides a faster download speed compared to other applications. You can also download multiple torrents at the same time. Not just that, you can also prioritize which file to have more speed by dragging and dropping the selected file on first or top row.

Browsing while a torrent is being downloaded in vuze, reduces your browsing speed? No problem, you can browse without the delay in opening web pages by simply setting the download limit in vuze. It can be done by clicking on the bottom right corner, where the download and upload speed is displayed. Just right click on the downloading speed and limit the transfer rate to 30 or 40 kbps or according to your wish.

Auto shutdown once a torrent(movie, music etc) is downloaded fully: The best time to download movies is at night time as it keeps downloading while we peacefully sleep. However, in order to save power and battery of laptop, vuze has an option to auto-shut down once the torrent is downloaded. Thus you do not have to manually shut down the next morning, saving a lot of power.

Device Playback: The downloaded movies or videos can also be viewed in your smartphone by using device playback option which automatically converts the video format to one supported by a certain device. Vuze automatically detects the device(eg: iphone) on connecting through usb.

HD Display: Videos can be viewed in High definition by using the HD Viewer present in vuze.

Speed Scheduler: One can install different plug-in's according to their needs and one among them is speed scheduler. This plugin allows us to limit the download and upload speed between specific hours on different days. This is useful when you don't want your kids or friends to download torrent between specific intervals or on different days.

Applications invited for Scholarship For Women from Karnataka Wakf Council

Announcement of Scholarship for Muslim women pursuing professional courses in Karnataka.

The Karnataka State Wakf Foundation For Women Development(KSWWF) has continuously been promoting the development of muslim women particularly in the education field. For the said reason, the department has now announced to accept applications from muslim women students pursuing professional courses which include BE, MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, MBA, MCA, BBM, BCA and BSc(Agriculture/veterinary Science/Horticulture).

The only eligibility criteria is that the income of the parents/gurdians should be less than 2.5lakhs per annum.

Scholarship for minority communites from Government of India.

Government of India is sanctioning sholarship for minority communities

(Muslims, Jains, Buddhists etc). It includes all states of India.

[Note: Last date for applying online has been extended till 30th september]

In this article I will be explaining the procedure to apply for scholarships for various graduate and post graduate courses. It includes . Ministry of Minority affairs started sanctioning scholarships from the year 2006-07. They are 3 divisions based on the level of education. They are

Ø Pre-metric sholarship = Which includes students studying from 1^st to 10^th class.

Ø Post-metric sholarship = Which includes 11^th, 12^th and basic degree courses which are Bsc, B com and BA.

Ø Merit-cum-means scholarship = Which includes Professional and higher level courses as listed below:

Ø Engineering & Technology Courses (B.E., B.Tech., M.E., M.Tech., MCA), Medicine & Paramedical (MBBS, BUMS, BAMS, BHMS, MD, BPT, MPT, BOT, MOT, B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, BDS, MDS), Fashion Technology (B.FTech, M.FTech), Management (MBA, PGDM, PGCM, Exec-PGDM), Pharmacy (B.Pharma, M.Pharma), Architecture & Design (B.Arch, ID, BCT, PL, PGD), Hotel Management (BHM & CT), Applied Arts & Craft ( APD, FA, FAD), Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc., & A.H.PG), Charted Accountancy (CA), Institute of Cost and work Accountancy (ICWA), Company Secretary (CS) and Law (LLB, LLM).

Unfortunately the last date for applying for scholarship for pre-metric and post metric is over. Now only the merit cum means sholarship can be applied for which the last date to apply is till 10^th september(midnight).

The amount of scholarship depends on the annual course fee. For a localite the maximum amount that will be sanctioned is 25000 and for students staying staying in hostel will get additional amount.

Till last year the student was supposed to download the application form from their official website and then fill up and submit to concerned office. (In bangalore the office is located in VV Towers). However from this year onwards the student needs to register online with details of studies and previous exams and then take a print out of the application form which is filled with information you entered while registering. Then submit to your respective college office and not to the minority community office.

Now coming to the procedure to apply online for Merit-cum-means sholarship, it goes like this

The official website is www.momascholarship.gov.in . Open this website and on top left there is a link for student registration. Click on it and it will ask for Religion, date of birth and annual income( annual income should not exceed 2.5 lakhs in order to register)

If you are applying for the first time then it is considered as Fresh application and otherwise its Renewal.

After entering certain details, you will be provided with a temporary id number. Note down the number, this is required for updating or making corrections before forwarding to the institution. After filling up complete details, click register. If its registered successfully it will show the same in a dialogue box. Then click on preview or printout to download the application form. It will be downloaded in few seconds. Save the form in your pc or laptop and then take a print out if you have entered all the information correctly. If you have entered incomplete information or if you do not have such information at that moment like bank details then you can just click on register(but never click on forward to institution with incomplete details). Later when you have all the details with you then you can come back to the website and update the left over information by entering your temporary ID. Do not take print out unless you have provided all the required details.

If you feel all the information that you have entered is correct then click on “Forward to Institution”’. It will be forwarded to your college. Please make sure that you have entered all information correctly before forwarding to the institution, as you cannot make any changes once you have forwarded to the institution.

After taking out the print out which usually has 7 pages, please fill up other details asked in the form and submit the filled form to your college office. The college will then review your form and if everything is correct, they will provide you a permanent ID with which you can check the status of your application online later on.

Along with the application form certain documents should be attached like previous year marks card, income certificate etc. However it is mentioned in the application form in details.

We are done with our part of job now. If your application is approved then it will be announced on their website with the list of all approved students and the amount sanctioned, during the month of februar y or march 2012.

Procedure to check the status of domestic LPG connection and to update the RR number

In this blog, I will be explaining the procedure to check the status of your Domestic LPG, whether suspended or continued, with respect to the recent attempt from the Government of Karnataka, to eliminate the illegal use of domestic LPG and use of multiple connections from the same house. Only one LPG cylinder needs to be booked for one home, if there are more than one use of domestic cylinders, then all the connections will be suspended.

To check the current status of your domestic LPG connection, you need to open the websitewww.ahara.kar.nic.in

From here, you need to click the link present at the middle of the page reading, "click here to verify your LPG/Ration card status and to update RR number etc"

You will be directed to a new web page which has five boxes. In order to check whether your connection is suspended or continued, you need to click the first box as shown in the picture below.

A new page is opened, you need to enter your corresponding company of your LPG connection(Indane, Bharat or Hindustan), your city, your local distributor name and very importantly is your consumer number.

The result will be displayed in the next page whether it is suspended or continued.

If if shows, that it has been suspended due to some reasons mentioned, like invalid ration card, RR number mismatch or absent etc. then go back to main website, ie, www.ahara.kar.nic.in and click the moving note as already mentioned earlier. Then in order to validate your suspended connection, you need to click the third box which reads "Enter upload Escom/RR number details for your LPG connection.

You will be directed to a new page in which you need to enter some information and upload your scanned copies of Ration card, Escom bill and LPG bill. An important step here is to enter the correct RR number of your electric meter. The page looks like this,

After entering the security code as shown, click submit button and wait for the system to produce an acknowledgement form with your acknowledgement number. Note down the number.

After 3-4 days you can come back and check the status by clicking the fifth box as shown in the first picture above.

If everything goes fine, then your company will provide a re-connection through your local distributor.
